Collection of Renunciation Certificate at Malaysia High Comm

Once renunciation of your Malaysian citizenship has been approved, you will receive a letter (email) from Malaysia High Commission asking you to go down to collect your Form K and birth certificate within one month from the date of the e-mail.

You have to bring down the following documentation:
i)        Singapore Identity Card (photocopy front and back of identity card);
ii)      Singapore Citizenship Certificate (photocopy front and back of certificate);
iii)     Singapore Passport (photocopy of page with photograph of passport holder); and
iv)       Deed Poll / Baptism (if name has been changed), if applicable.

Note:
a) If you have temporary Singapore ID, please get  “certified copy” of your Singapore ID. and Citizenship certificate from ICA Singapore before coming to the High Commission; and
b) All original documents must be submitted with two (2) sets of photocopies

Task :
1)      You need to get ‘certified copy” of your Singapore ID and Citizenship certificate. Why? Because at you do not have your original Pink IC and Citizenship certificate yet, so you have to call ICA first, tell them you need the certified copy of both documents for Form K collection. Please DO NOT go down to ICA directly to get the certificate copy documents. My friend went down directly to ICA and ICA asked her to come back 7 days later for collection. For my case, I called ICA immediately and ICA scheduled a date, which is seven days later to go down for collection. The collection time is from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
2)      I went down to ICA per scheduled date in the morning, collected my certified copy of IC and citizenship certificate at lvl 6. Go down to lvl 5 get both copies to be Photostatted 2 sets.
3)      2.30pm went down to Malaysia High Commission, submitted copies of Singapore IC, Singapore Citizenship Certificate and Singapore passport. After a short wait, they will return you Form K (which is your renunciation certificate) & birth certificate.
4)      Go back to ICA before 5.30pm, first go to lvl 5 to photocopy ONE set of your Form K, go to lvl 6 submit to the person in charge at main counter.
5)      Done!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Just to clarify, if one has already received one's Singapore Pink IC and Citizen Certficate, then there is no need to get 'certified copies' anymore. Is that right?

Hi Shirley,
Thank you for sharing such concise steps on how to get it right.
May I also check with you, any idea if we can get our friend to collect the Form K on our behalf?
The emails says family/spouse/sibling can collect on your behalf, but what about just a friend? I wrote in to ask but no reply yet.

@Geoffrey Liew I waited 9 months. And I didn't receive any letter/email telling me to collect my Form K. I just kept calling them to ask.
