National Day Rally Speech 2008

Government figures say Singapore had a fertility rate of 1.29 babies born per woman in 2007, well below the 2.1, or at least two children per woman, needed for the population to replace itself naturally.

In order to boost birth rate, the government will implement some of the new incentives for mother to be and mummies.

- Increase to maternity leave to 16 weeks from 12 weeks
- Increase to childcare leave to 6 days from 2 days
- Financial support for IVF treatment
- More incentive for first time parents (I guess more baby bonus) and fifth baby.
- More tax incentive for parents.

I want to have 2nd baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
