빼빼로 - Pepero Day

Toda, 11th November is빼빼로 day!

Basically, it is named after the Korean snack Pepero (빼빼로) and held on 11th November, when written numerically, 11/11, resembles 4 Pepero sticks.

It's a more recent "holiday" where for students they will exchange Pepero sticks as gifts to wish one another to grow ‘as tall and slender as a Pepero.

Whereas, for young people and couples, who exchange Pepero sticks, other candies, and romantic gifts. This is why it is also known as Valentine’s Day or Sweetest Day in South Korea.


In Japan, 11/11 it is known as Pocky Day.
In China, 11/11 is known as 光棍节 "bachelor day".
