Marmite Prawns (妈蜜虾)

Today, sister in law & Chloe is coming over for dinner so i am cooking extra dishes on top of the wonton i had prepared this morning!


10 Prawns, slit the back and devien (do not remove shells)

Corn Flour & white pepper for dusting
Oil for frying

Some chopped garlic, ginger & Onion

Spring onions chopped to about 2 inches in length

50ml water
4 pieces Rock Sugar (those in regular rectangular shape) (may replace with white sugar)
2/3 tablespoon Marmite or Bovril
Few dashes of Worcestershire Sauce


1. Dried the prawns with paper towel and lightly sprinkle some salt and some cornflour, marinate prawns for half an hour.
2. Clean wok, heat up cooking oil, fry prawns until they turn red.
3. Dish up, drain prawns and set a side.
4. Pour excess oil away and leave one tablespoon in the pan, sautee onion, garlic and ginger till fragrant.
5. Add prawns in wok.
6. Stir in Marmite mixture to coat the prawns evenly in low heat, add in spring onions.
7. Thicken the sauce with some cornflour and water solution. (optional)
8. Dish up and serve.

Note : may use the same recipe replace prawns with chicken or pork rib.
